The Fox & Hounds is a family run pub that's been under the present landlords for some 15 years. It's one of a dying breed of pubs, being still very much a community centre for the village with a large proportion of residents regular customers (with some more regular than others!).
Dogs and children are most welcome and there are a selection of games to play for the younger ones (children that is, not dogs) and plenty of books and other pastimes for the older folk. The pub has active teams for dominoes and quoits so if you're lucky you'll have a chance to see these traditional games being played with a passion!
There's a patio/beer garden to the rear of the pub and a good-sized car park. We also have a dining room that can be 'closed off' for private parties (booking recommended).

A Spooky History
The Fox & Hounds in West Witton is one of the oldest dwelling places in the area (built circa 1400 & Grade II listed) and was originally a resting place for monks from the nearby Jervaulx Abbey!
Some say a ghostly shrouded figure still wanders the rooms and corridors at night and the pub is mentioned in 'Haunted Yorkshire Dales'
